Christmas Oat Slice

A yummy festive treat for when the guests get back from the slopes, this Christmas Oat Slice is also perfect for wrapping up in cling film and taking in your backpack for the mountain.

Christmas Oat Slice

Ingredients Makes 12-16 bars

  • 200g self raising flour
  • 200g soft brown sugar
  • 225g rolled oats
  • 265g melted butter
  • 500g mincemeat
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 30 cm x 22 cm shallow roasting tin buttered and lined with greaseproof paper


  1. Pre-heat the oven to 190°C
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, oats and butter until well combined
  3. Take half of the oat mixture and press it down into a smooth layer in the prepared tin
  4. Mix the mincemeat with the orange zest
  5. Spoon the mincemeat over the oats in the tin
  6. Press the reaming oat mixture evenly over the top of the mincemeat
  7. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 25 minutes until golden, leave to cool in the tin on a cooling rack before cutting into slices or squares
